Steady collects nothing. It has no servers, makes no network requests, contains no analytics or advertising code, and does not request the “Allow Full Access” permission that would let a keyboard transmit what you type.
What Steady stores, and where
Steady saves only what you deliberately create in the app:
- Your keyboard settings, such as the key resize profile.
- The entries in your Names list.
- The templates in your Phrases list.
These are written to a private container shared between the Steady app and the Steady keyboard on your device. They are readable only by Steady. They are never transmitted anywhere, and the developer has no ability to access them.
What Steady does with what you type
To decide which keys to enlarge, the Steady keyboard reads the text immediately before the cursor in the field you are typing in. That text is used in memory, on your device, to look up likely next letters and words in a dictionary bundled inside the app. It is not stored, logged, or sent anywhere, and it is discarded as soon as the next key is drawn.
Steady does not request Full Access. Without that permission iOS prevents a keyboard extension from making any network request at all, so your typing physically cannot leave your device through Steady.
Data collected
None. Steady collects no personal data, no usage data, no diagnostics, and no identifiers. Nothing is used to track you across apps or websites, and no data is shared with or sold to any third party.
Third-party code
Steady contains no third-party SDKs, analytics libraries, advertising networks, or crash reporters. The prediction dictionary is compiled from openly licensed word frequency lists, credited in the project repository; it ships inside the app as a static file and performs no lookups over a network.
Children
Steady is safe for users of any age. Because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.
Beta testing through TestFlight
If you install Steady through TestFlight, Apple — not Steady — collects crash logs and any feedback you choose to submit, and shares it with the developer. That is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. Steady itself still collects nothing.
This website
These pages are static files served by GitHub Pages. They set no cookies, run no analytics, and load no fonts, scripts, or images from anyone else — everything, including the typeface, is served from this site. The keyboard demo on the home page runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. As with any website, the host (GitHub) can see the usual request details, such as your IP address; that is covered by GitHub’s privacy statement. Links we point to, such as TestFlight and GitHub, have their own policies.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date above. Steady’s design goal is to keep this page saying “nothing is collected”.
